If your pet's mouth needs dental care by a professional, our doctors and staff provide many dental services. Our routine dental prophy includes cleaning and polishing the teeth and applying fluoride to strengthen the enamel. Because this involves general anesthesia, pre-anesthetic bloodwork will be performed to minimize any risk.
Sometimes advanced dental care is needed, as in the case of diseased teeth or enamel lesions. We are pleased to be able to offer some of the most advanced procedures available. Just as it is for human dentists, proper evaluation of teeth starts with good dental x-rays. At Zionsville Country Veterinary Clinic, we have a digital dental x-ray which allows rapid, detailed films of the teeth and roots. It's amazing how many lesions can be detected with this tool!
After evaluation with x-rays, several therapeutic options are available. Because they have completed multiple courses in advanced dental care, the Drs. Lyons can perform both simple and complex extractions with gingival flap closure. At Zionsville Country Veterinary Clinic, your pet even has the option of a root canal! With the surgical laser, tumors or gingival lesions can be removed with minimal bleeding and less discomfort. And for the complex Feline Oral Resorptive Lesions, Dr. Lyons is experienced in crown amputations as well.
